Delhi Excursions
Bharatpur - The Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan, was founded by Maharaja
Suraj Mal in 1733 AD, it was once an impregnable well fortified city,
carved out of the region formerly known as Mewat.
Agra is the one of the prominent destinations of the World Tourism
map with three heritage monuments - The Taj Mahal, Red Fort & Fatehpur
Sikri.
Unfortunately I've not visited Fatehpur Sikri, a ghost city 37 km
from Agra, simply because I didn't know it existed.
Dehradun in one of the odlest cities of India. Also known as the Abode
of Drona , Dehradun has always been an important centre of the Garhwal
rulers which was captured by the British.
Mussoorie offers a wonderful view of the Himalayan snow ranges to
the north-east and the Doon Valley., Roorkee, Saharanpur and Haridwar
to the South, creating an almost serene atmosphere for the tourists.
Built since 1464 AD, Neemrana Fort-Palace is among India's oldest
heritage resorts. Neemrana became the third capital of the descendants
of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed in battle by Mohammad Ghori
in 1192 AD.
Rishikesh, also known as the 'place of sages' is Haridwar, at the
confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga.
Serenity and a city are two diametrically opposite concepts, which
however, get belied in the 'City Beautiful'. Chandigarh is a rare
epitome of modernization co-existing with nature's preservation.
Morni Hills are an offshoot of Shivalik range, which run in two parallel
ranges. The village of Morni (Bhoj Jabial) lies on the mountainside,
at 1220 meters or 3600 feet above sea level.
A hill station, idyllic in its charm, Ranikhet with its majestic pine
trees, is 60 Kms. from Nainital. According to popular belief this
spot had won the heart of Rani Padmini, queen of Raja Sudhardev .
Of the three districts of Kumaon, Almora occupies a central location.
Being further away from the plains than Nainital, this district provides
tranquil spots where one can enjoy the mountain air without jostling
against milling holiday-makers.
Nainital is a glittering jewel in the Himalyan necklace, blessed with
scenic natural spledour and varied natural resources.
